Intermodal & Specialized Rail

| CONTAINERIZED SERVICE: Affords the
shipper the most economical, damage-free transportation available for
most volume shipments: double stack containerization has virtually
eliminated damage and claim problems, providing shippers with a high
quality ride. New containerized traffic lanes are being created with the
expansion of the NACS and EMPU nationwide container service.
TOFC (Trailer-On-Flat-Car): This traditional intermodal service (conventional piggyback) still is a trouble-free way to ship. TOFC shipping continues to grow and more shippers are trying this mode as truck availability declines and motor carriers continue to convert to the intermodal option. QTI provides door-to-door intermodal service matching services provided my motor carriers. COFC (Container-On-Flat-Car): This domestic service started in the 1970's with the steamship lines conversion of break-bulk cargo handling into containerization. QTI provides movement of steamship containers between ports and major cities of North America. QTI can assist in all facets of inland transportation of international freight including assistance with ports, customs, chassis, and container pools. QTI can also handle your dimensional freight: QTI moves dimensional freight by using specially equipped flatcars and gondolas while on rails, and a variety of specially equipped highway trailers while on the roads. The heavier the cargo, the more economical the rail movement; and the rail transit often equals or outperforms the highway transit. Using supplied dimensions and specifications, QTI will develop a proposal including rail costing, trucking, rigging charges, insurance, permits and transit, and upon agreement will order the desired rail and/or highway equipment, obtain clearances and finalize arrangements for the movement.
